Angela Su: what it means for a city to be labelled as contagious

For Contagious Cities, Angela Su produced work that explores the complicated implications of the project’s title.

Watch: behind-the-scenes with Angela Su on her residency at Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences.

Angela studied biochemistry before moving into the visual arts. She creates works that prompt us to contemplate our own being – our inscription in space and time.

Offering an alternative to the usual outbreak narrative, Angela sought to interrogate the paradoxes, complexities and contradictions surrounding infectious diseases. She took inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine, cosmology and philosophy to create a video- and performance-based work.

Her residency took place at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences, and her work was shown at Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts.
