Doug Turnbull and Damon Buffini knighted

Doug Turnbull, Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Mitochondrial Research, and Damon Buffini, a Wellcome governor, have been awarded knighthoods in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Other members of the Wellcome community recognised in the honours list include:

  • Nazneen Rahman, a Wellcome Investigator and Strategic Award holder, head of the Division of Genetics and Epidemiology at The Institute of Cancer Research, who received a CBE
  • Anna Dominiczak, professor of medicine at Glasgow University and Wellcome ISSF Award holder, who is now a dame
  • Richard Triesman, Research Director at the Francis Crick Institute, who received a knighthood
  • Stella Duffy, writer and theatremaker and Co-Director of Fun Palaces, a campaign we're part funding, who received an OBE.
