Applications invited for new Wellcome Trust-NIH PhD Studentships
News / Published: 24 July 2014
The latest round of the Wellcome Trust and National Institutes of Health Four-year PhD Studentships scheme is now open for applications.
This scheme is a partnership between the Wellcome Trust and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to promote the training of exceptional students in international collaborative biomedical research. Students will have the opportunity to undertake four years of PhD training in a leading laboratory at both a UK/Republic of Ireland academic institution and the intramural campus of the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. We are now pleased to invite applications to this scheme.
Students will be co-mentored by supervisors in both the UK/Republic of Ireland and the USA, and are expected to spend an equal amount of time in both laboratories (the specific division of time will depend on the research project).
Up to five studentships are available each year from the Trust, which provide support for the student's stipend, PhD fees, college fees (if required) and a contribution towards research costs. The NIH will also provide a level of financial support and cover applicable travel costs.
Applications must be received no later than 3 November 2014.
