We offer a wide range of programmes and courses to all our staff – from interns to senior leaders.

On-the-job learning

Much of how we learn is through hands-on practical experience. As an organisation, we’re continually stretching ourselves and coming up with new ideas. This results in lots of interesting projects to get involved with. We offer initiatives and opportunities such as:

  • research leave
  • mentoring
  • internal promotions.

'MyCareer' seasons

Throughout the year we hold talks, workshops and coaching to support your short- and long-term career development. These often include:

  • high-profile keynote speakers
  • CV and interview skills workshops
  • 1:1 career coaching
  • pop-up events
  • a comedy night.

Volunteering

Wellcome employees are entitled to two days’ paid volunteering leave a year, with additional days available. We work with and support a variety of charities and important causes, to help make a difference to local people and communities. There are volunteering opportunities throughout the year, giving you the chance to use your knowledge and experience to help others, as well as learn and develop new skills and expertise in the process.

Wellcome Study Scheme

At Wellcome we know how hard it is to combine work with studying for a qualification. We provide funding to undertake a course of professional study, as well as support for exam leave and study breaks, to make your life that bit easier.
