UK Prevention Research Partnership Scheme (Closed)
The UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP) will fund large interdisciplinary research collaborations and networks to support research on the primary prevention of non-communicable diseases in the UK.
The UKPRP is a partnership of research councils, UK health departments and charities, including Wellcome. It is administered by the Medical Research Council (MRC).

The way we fund research is changing to support our new strategy.
Eligibility and suitability
Who can apply
You can apply if you’re a UK-based researcher working for:
- a higher education institution
- a research council institute
- an independent research organisation.
You can include researchers from overseas organisations in your proposal if they bring key expertise to the research.
To be eligible, your proposal must include working with:
- researchers across different disciplines
- research users, such as local and national government, non-governmental organisations and industry partners (where appropriate).

What we offer
The UKPRP scheme has two awards:
Consortium Award
This award offers up to £7 million to interdisciplinary collaborations to do complex systems research.
Network Award
This award offers £100,000 a year for up to four years to create new interdisciplinary networks to scope research opportunities across different academic disciplines and non-academic partners.
