Wellcome International Career Tracker

We support researchers through a number of funding schemes and partnerships in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our work:

We developed the Wellcome International Career Tracker, a bespoke online survey, to look at the career choices made by the people we fund and the impact of our funding.

We’ll use the findings to inform how best we can support scientists and researchers in LMICs.

The International Career Tracker collects data to track how the careers of current and former Wellcome-funded fellows have progressed over time. We sent out the first wave in summer 2016. NatCen Social Research distributes the survey on Wellcome's behalf.

The survey was designed by our International Operations and Partnerships and Insight and Analysis teams.

It builds on the model of the Wellcome Basic Science Career tracker which launched in 2009, and on a pilot survey sent to India Alliance fellows in 2014.

Who are we tracking?

We're tracking fellows we have supported:

This includes:

Wellcome International Career Tracker reports and data

We expect to make results from the first full wave of this tracker available in 2017.
